I never trust those type of maps but I'm fine with my country to score low. Speaking English and Anglicization of words in a country like Italy is synonymous of being a colony. I leave that pleasure to smaller countries and Scandinavian ones which languages are hard and spoken by few so English is basically their second mother language.

You need to consider the difference of population of the two countries.

Germans outside of the internet doesn't speak English very well at all.
Reason for that is because like the french and some other countries, they dub everything on Tv and other than tourist interactions they have little to no english
experience other than school which doesnt seem to help that much tbh.

well ,i'am splitted, for germans it's depend of the musical culture, the german actor daniel brühl is not awfull compared to armin muller-stahl,but i like armin muller-stahl and his special german accent,it's giving to him something special, berliners are not bad, i'am a big fan of SEABOUND(and a few side projects, solo album and featuring) with frank spinath as singer ,a real doctor in psychology at saarland university, who still teaching, and i could tell you than he have a very good english with a good syntax and a good vocabulary , i have heard awfull accents in the dark wave/industrial/goth scene, and i met some people in this scene from germany in the public, and well sometimes it's a bit funny but in general not completly terrible, here i'am talking about electro-pop bands because after my tastes are quite large until electro/industrial-metal after it's not the same, in general in this scene ,i mean the electro-pop/futur-pop scene they are very good in english, and i have forget to have shitty tastes and have also HD sound too

the depeche modian DE/VISION have a good accent

    SEABOUND with frank spinath

HAUJOBB(a mistranslation of skinjobs from blade runner) are not bad too,and they are also Masters of sound

Karl Bartos/elektric musik (former member of kraftwerk) have a quite good british accent too,and kraftwerk themselves for sure

i could you gave you plenty examples of germans with a good to excellent english,by this way someone than you could understand more or less without the lyrics hearing after hearing

    Radioaktivists(pluri-musicians collaboration) featuring Frank Spinath

    and the lyrics :

a stainless case in a safe deposit box in a cellar room behind steel memories from my own life letters unknown from my radiant wife you stole the colour from day the words off my tongue the breath from my lungs and it's time that you pay time that you pray come here my love and feel the claws i grew for you when justice fails only truth prevails deliverance will come from my embrace it's time that you pray stay here my love and feel the claws i grew for you when justice fails only truth prevails deliverance will come from my embrace it's time that you pray a careworn face and a safe deposit box in a cellar room behind steel it's every night, dried stains haunted by sorrow time and again you stole the colour from day the words off my tongue the breath from my lungs 'v' is for valentine and justice breeds prey i'm here to teach you a very new way 'v' is for valentine 'v' is for valentine come here my love and feel the claws i grew for you when justice fails only truth prevails deliverance will come from my embrace it's time that you pray stay here my love and feel the claws i grew for you when justice fails only truth prevails deliverance will come from my embrace it's time that you pray it's time that you pray it's time that you pray

and they are all germans, but maybe i'am not the best judge, i think than you have a bad idea of the germans or maybe you don't meet the good ones with a good english

after for the other european countries, well, scandinavians for sure, and for the rest it's quite various

in the cinema you have two actresses with very good language skills jodie foster who study at french high school spoke a very good french
and marion cotillard who spoke a very good english

What is strange in that? What number did you expect?

There were likely people of all ages in this survey and of various social standings. Germany has also a very high percentage of old people.

I'm surprised it's even that high. Feels like Germans dub literally everything.

I had similar experiences in Italy. I'd say Spanish people are slightly better but somehow their fluency does not go together with their pronunciation. I knew one such Spanish girl that I could carry on dialogues with on various
topics but the way she would butcher it sometimes was extraordinary, from time to time there transpired a need to ask her for a repeat.

    jakubmarian lol
    who's that guy? lol
so many ridiculous maps, for god's sakes...

    English? In England, obviously.

Rest of countries in Europe possesses their own languages, as old or even older than English, which is only a language more in Europe.

I don't think Austrians and Finns are very good at English. Some Austrians I've met (even younger ones) have barely known how to speak a few words and sentences, and some Finns really struggle with pronunciation.
