Default George Bush Jr. Regrets the Iraq war

George W Bush says Iraq intelligence failure is his biggest regret

George W Bush has expressed his regret over the faulty intelligence leading up to the Iraq conflict, admitted he was "unprepared" for war and apologised for the calamitous state of the US economy, in a retrospective interview just seven weeks before he leaves office.

Though the outgoing US president failed to take responsibility for the misfortunes that have beset the country during his eight years in office, he was candid about wishing things had gone better.

"A lot of people put their reputations on the line and said the weapons of mass destruction is a reason to remove Saddam Hussein. It wasn't just people in my administration. A lot of members in Congress, prior to my arrival in Washington DC, during the debate on Iraq, a lot of leaders of nations around the world were all looking at the same intelligence. And, you know, that's not a do-over, but I wish the intelligence had been different."

He said he could not answer the question of whether or not he would have gone to war had he known Saddam Hussein did not possess "weapons of mass destruction".

"I think I was unprepared for war," Mr Bush said. "In other words, I didn't campaign and say, 'Please vote for me, I'll be able to handle an attack,'" he said. "In other words, I didn't anticipate war.

One of the things about the modern presidency is that the unexpected will happen."

On the subject of the economy, Mr Bush said: "I'm sorry it's happening, of course." He continued: "Obviously I don't like the idea of people losing jobs, or being worried about their 401Ks [pension plans]. On the other hand, the American people got to know that we will safeguard the system. I mean, we're in. And if we need to be in more, we will."

The 43rd president said he hoped to be remembered as a "guy that came, didn't sell his soul for politics, had to make some tough decisions, and did so in a principled way".

Laura Bush, who joined her husband for the interview added: "I think they think he's somebody that kept them safe for eight years. I hear that all the time, people thanking me, telling me to thank him."

Despite devastating attacks of 9/11, the wars, floods, collapsing stock market and soaring unemployment, Mr Bush twice described his job as "joyful".

"The idea of being able to serve a nation you love is – has been joyful.

"In other words, my spirits have never been down. I have been sad, but the spirits are up," he concluded.

He must have been under the influence of some very evil spirits:

Not to mention this war was and for Israel's interest more than anything else. America did not benefit but not as much. Many Americans themselves regret the Iraq war simply because it was fought on a lie.

As I said: evil spirits. Americans, Europeans (several other soldiers as well) and Arabs died for Israel.

American economy also struggled from this war, the Americans actually had underestimated Iraq's capability, plus they had many casualties that their military hid, especially in the Western regions of Iraq, where the fighting was quite intensive. Europeans should not have tagged into this war, especially the Poles, they thought they might get oil, but got nothing, though it's somewhat understandable why Britain and Australia might want to join with the U.S invasion, as they are also pro-Israel nations.

There was very little public support for either Afghanistan or Iraq so the government promised (and lied through their teeth) that they would just send troops to build hospitals, roads and schools. You can imagine how hard they managed to lose the elections when it became clear they had been lying.

At least Iraq did not need hospitals, roads or schools it was doing fine, and it had best the universities and hospitals in the region. However the Americans actually purposely destroyed the infrastructure of the country. It clearly they did not come to impose democracy, but fight a destructive war, and there are many reasons for it some of it for their own interest like the military-industrial complex and also oil, and there is also the protection of it's oil rich mideast nation, that Iraq wanted to annex in the Gulf, and also to protect and make sure that Israel can only be regional hemagon, this why they encouraged and trained sectarian militias in Iraq to do mayhem in order to further break the country apart, and probably in hopes producing refugees, in order for globalism.

Dutch troops were based in the British sector at Al Muthanna and according to the Socialist Party SP (at the time), the fact that Dutch troops were there at all was in violation of the Dutch constitution (article 90)

Article 90 Promotion of the international legal order
The Government shall promote the development of the international legal order.
I think the Dutch opposition should have waged a holy war on a government that so blatantly violated the constitution (in Afghanistan there was, at least, a NATO mandate as the U.S had invoked NATO article 5).

Wake up and smell the coffee.
