Mercantilism is dominant today. Humans are separated into "free" individuals and spend their entire time chasing either coin or pleasure. Instant gratification turning maturity obsolete. Human bonds became shallow and exchangeable like a pair of "made in China" shoes. Sense of meaning is lost.
