First of all Guatemala isn’t an Andean country it’s a Meso American Central American one. second of all, I would say not anymore then any other region of the world that has high conservative values which the Andean countries(Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia) do, overall I would say we’re not as bad as other parts of Latin America and the Caribbean when it comes to sexism/homophobia even though it’s no where near perfect or developed as Western European countries, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia are probably relatively safe in comparison to some crime/gang infested countries in Central America that promote a culture machismo or have old Buggery laws like Anglo-Caribbean nations that arrest LGBT people. The Ni una más movement has hit Peru pretty hard along with Ecuador, and Ecuador has actually legalized gay marriage(although I think it was because of an international treaty) in comparison to more Mestizo/westernized lol Central American nations like Honduras, Nicaragua or even Paraguay which is in the Southern Cone(a supposedly high European Cultural area). I personally think that lack and too much Poverty, Crime, Religion and Education(lack of it anyway) are the biggest reasons for all the phobias and ism‘a of the world.

Well, Colombia is an Andean country for the most part. Bogota is pretty progressive regarding LGTB and women rights. The latter recently chose a lesbian woman as its mayor. Even my city (Santa Marta) on the North Coast elected a woman as its mayor.

The country has legalised gay marriage, euthanasia, cannabis for medical purposes and is on its way to legalise voluntary abortion so I think for an Andean country, Colombia is not particularly resistant to feminism.
