As much as I have a gut dislike for these hippy-neoleftists-ecology freaks, I don't understand the position of many people who identify as right wing/conservatives on environmental issues. For instance, massive consumption of red meat is not only bad for the environment but for health too. Especially the kind of processed meat sold by MacDonald's & Co. That doesn't mean that one should never eat a good steak but eating red meat every day is not the best for both environment and health.

Another issue is global warming. I don't like the doomsday hysterical tone exemplified by people like Greta Thunberg, but the problem is real and serious. Among other issues and risks, the rise of sea level and desertification due to global warming will likely cause a new wave of mass-immigration. Of course, even if the sea levels will rise as predicted, it would not be difficult for the international community to assist the worst affected countries in building embankments and dykes, but probably they will not do it. Instead, they will tackle the problem by resettling people to Europe. Already today there is talk about 'climate refugees' and the need of new immigration laws for them. So tackling the problem of carbon emissions would not only help the countries worst affected and the environment in general, but would avoid a new refugee crisis too.

In the past 'right wingers' like Madison Grant and Charles Lindbergh were committed conservationists and environmentalists (I will not mention one of the most famous vegetarians...). Today people on the right/conservative camp seem to scoff at environmentalism as a leftist invention.
