I'm pretty sure the skin cancer rates in Australian would be lower if, instead of being a majority Anglo-Celtic population, they were, let's say, Spaniards, or any other Southern Euro ethnic group, because their skin is less sensible to the sun (mainly Meds).

But take a look at Uruguay 2060, they are a spaniard country and they are more red than Australia as whole and as red as Queensland and New Wales.

Relatively light skinned people for the most part and their climate is pretty similar to most of America

What do you suggest? That Spaniards are immune to skin cancer? The rate of skin cancer in Spain is increasing.
Amigo looks at the map of Uruguay and Argentina in 2060.

The only people immune to skin cancer are Africans.

I never meant that. Since Spaniards are darker than Anglos (the main stock of Australia), I assumed that skin cancer rates in Australia would be lover if that country was composed mainly of Spanish descendant people, because Med skin is less sensible to the sun than pinkish types (common among Anglos).

Sun here is really bad. It's at least 10 times worse than in USA. I walked in NYC under the summer sun and I didn't even tan. Here I stay 30 min in the sun and you get serious burning, you cannot stay in the sun without high sunscreen and you have to completly avoid it from 11-14hs.

In Argentina and Uruguay (and also Chile) it's not a problem of skin tone.
In the Southern Cone the bulk of the population have skin tones between II and IV, and of course in Australia despite the wogs (who have the same skin tone to conosureans) the bulk of the population have skin tone II with several individuals who have also type I.
But the problem is that the Southern Cone is closer to the area of the Ozone Hole, which is located in Anctartica.
That trouble it's deplorable to the skin health of the people.... so it's not even a problem of the sun strenght.
Just see that in Rio de Janeiro you feel the sun far stronger than in Buenos Aires or Montevideo, but there it's not as harmful as here.
Happily I saw in my Genetic Test that I have a SNP which protect me of the Skin Cancer (that SNP is very frequent in Basques), so it's a good new if we consider I live in these conditions, but as I told you one time my skin doesn't tan very well either... but at least I breathe calmly thank you that new hehe.
But the Ozone issue is a huge trouble really...
