Are Chechens European?

Given the recent history of, say, Serbia, I might question if their 'priorities' are European. It seems to me they'll side with most anyone against the West, and did side against the West in forming the non-Aligned Movement. To the extent the British are Europeans, are the upper class British converts to Islam any less 'European' than this?

Chechnya is techically within Europe - west of the Urals & north of the Caucausus. So by that definition, the Chechens, who are the indigenous people, are "European." Racially & culturally they are at most peripheral to Europeans proper.

Europe is a variegated continent. And you know it. Many mentalities. Furthermore, the very concept of Europe has been evolving throughout centuries.
