Do most women prefer tall men, even if they aren't good looking?

Is it true that women just look for height in a mate? In theory, for men, height is part of attractiveness. But is it really so?

For example: If you have a 6'3 balding man with a pot belly , a large nose, warts and skinny legs, they would pick him over say a man 5'10 who is considered what they call classically handsome? It explains why most male models are so unattractive. They seem to just go for height and that's it.
