Right in the middle of the upscale Montparnasse district of Paris is an old farmhouse in a state of increasing dilapidation. An initiative has been started to defend the site from profit-seeking speculators. Paris used to be home to 500 farmhouses, providing the French capital with fresh milk and other produce. They have now all disappeared except for "Ferme Montsouris", although it has been abandoned for some time. A real estate company bought the site, planning to build luxury apartments there.
