Hey everyone,
I was watching an interview with Alan Moore and he describes most of Lovecraft's books as alarmists where he thought his society was going under. You can also see this in the writings of J.G Ballard(British but similar culture) that the world is taking a nosedive and unless immediate action is taken catastrophic consequences will occur.
My hypothesis is that protest society works around a moral panic society and this is reflected in its literature an art. Where society will always either live in fear or assume the worst can come any time. I'm curious if there's historical reason for this? Maybe there was a plague in London?
