Who says it is only Leftists who think like that necessarily? Plenty of libertarian types on the Right regard the nation state as an impediment to a global free market, and like the EU precisely because it provides multinational companies with free and equal access to 28 different nations.

true, its a geographical expression, if you are from Europe you are European, but to say its a common culture, no its not, even in same nation regional differences are often cultural differences, then as we get more wide, i find different amount of kinship to other nations.

... and its not even based on geographical proximity, even tho Greeks and Italians are closer to us then Russians, i find more kinship to Russians
