    Default Greek mtdna.

What are the maternal haplogroup frequencies of Greece? I am asking because it would be useful in explaining where Greeks cluster genetically relative to neighboring regions.. despite West Asian affinities (and a largely Neolithic paternal gene pool), they still cluster in Europe. Is it likely that their deep maternal ancestry represents a population that is pre-Neolithic and largely shared with all other Europeans?

To my knowledge, Eupedia uses a small sample size so I'm not too sure if it's all that reliable. However if we're going by that website then H haplogroup is the most common with J and U runner ups.

My observation is that mtdna-wise, Greece and Romania have similar frequencies.
