La administración Trump publicó este lunes una nueva normativa que prohibe que los migrantes que pasen por México u otro país antes de llegar a Estados Unidos puedan solicitar asilo.

Este nuevo intento para frenar el flujo de migrantes provenientes principalmente de Centroamérica entra en vigor el martes y aplica también para menores de edad que cruzaron solos la frontera, de acuerdo con la agencia The Associated Press.

La nueva normativa “utiliza la autoridad delegada por el Congreso en (…) la Ley de Migración para mejorar la integridad del proceso de asilo colocando más restricciones o limitaciones a la elegibilidad de los extranjeros que busquen asilo en Estados Unidos”, dijo el Departamento de Justicia en un comunicado.

La medida contempla excepciones si el solicitante ha sufrido tráfico de personas, si el país por el que pasó el migrante no firmó la Convención de Refugiados de 1951 o del Protocolo de 1965 o si buscó protección en un país pero fue rechazado.

Denominada reglamento provisional final, aunque la normativa entra en vigor el martes pero puede sufrir modificaciones posteriores tras su publicación este lunes.

El canciller mexicano, Marcelo Ebrard, afirmó en conferencia de prensa que “no coincidimos” con esta medida, pero descartó afectaciones para mexicanos.

Impulsada por la Casa Blanca, está dirigida a los cientos de miles de migrantes de América Central y de otros países que intentan cruzar hacia Estados Unidos por la frontera con México para pedir asilo una vez en territorio estadounidense.

“Estados Unidos es un país generoso, pero está completamente desbordado por la carga asociadas a la detención y al proceso de cientos de miles de extranjeros detenidos en la frontera sur”, dijo el fiscal general Bill Barr.

Según Barr esto va a “desalentar a los migrantes económicos que buscan explotar” el sistema de asilo para Estados Unidos.

En junio, más de 100,000 personas fueron arrestadas tras cruzar irregularmente la frontera sur. Estas cifras representan una caída del 28% con respecto a mayo, pero están muy por encima de las 43,000 aprehensiones registradas hace un año.

Not only that but they're not even asylum seekers in the first place according to the official definition, they would be classified as economic migrants which is not the same thing. That's why these central americans are moving to the US, in order to improve their economic conditions while the US is experiencing a high point right now in the economy and with a low unemployment rate to boot. Actual asylum seekers would be syrians for example who flee due to political violence aka civil war which therefore qualifies them as such, not in the case for these central american migrants.


Meanwhile all the democrat candidates are in support of providing free healthcare to "undocumented" migrants aka illegal immigrants. What do you think that'll do? Incentivize it so that more to come over perhaps? There's already cramp conditions happening within the detention centers and democrats want more to come over while complaining about how they're not being taking care of(due to lack of funding and supplies) and on top of that, not voting for more legislation that provided more funding until very recently. What the fuck kind of logic is that??

I didn't vote for Trump last time ,but i have always been against illegal immigrants. This time Trump gets my vote in 2020.
The border is out of control and we can't have democrat socialist in power who want open borders ,welfare freebies.
