Ok, sorry. I thought you spoke about yourself.

Well, up there ia Nikon D800. Excellent DSLR camera. A fullframe digi camera with mirror. Allows you to take professional level photos (or those are not up to your gear/camera for sure). Still not something I would end to buy. Too big and too heavy (in my taste). And both true what comes to lenses as well. And especially so with longer telephoto lenses (which are very expensive as well). Yes, I could use one with potreits (offering great bokeh and great deep of view control), but not carrying that on my neck (then hiking in the forest). And I just do not shot potreits much.

But gear wise, there is no one and only ''right'' way to take photos. All people will value bit different things. And in the end money will put some limits to most of us . She definitely has some great cameras there. I assume she has bought those two other digicameras (Leica and?) because weight of Nikon. Both looks small and light with fixed focal length lenses. Nice to carry around (street photography) then you're not planning to take dead serious photos.

Which one? One of those Alpha 7A series cameras (pro models A1 & 9A are expensive)? Great cameras. Great lenses too (plus also Carl Zeiss af-lenses available). W(c)ould be my choice ''too'', but then I think sizes of lenses and I always stay with my own set.

Or APS-C sensor models A6XXX models?

Carl Zeiss is great (in all kinds of optics they'll produce). But there are some others.

One detail from history? After WWII another factory of Carl Zeiss left ''the wrong side'' of Europe. Those products (DDR) are known as Carl Zeiss Jena.

This would be my dream film camera. Those small Contax lenses were made by Carl Zeiss. This film camera is already more than 20 years old, and starts to be collectors item. It was expensive as new and prices are rising all the time. Probably I'll never be rich enough to justify buying one.
