On June 29, 2019, Florida scientists tagged a deep-sea shark from a submersible, a historic first on a research expedition led by OceanX, the Cape Eleuthera Institute and shark expert Dean Grubbs of Florida State University. At a depth of more than 1,700 feet off the coast of Eleuthera, the team encountered several bluntnose sixgill sharks, including this large female, about 16 feet long.
