In some cases, a handsome man marries a rather plain woman, but ends up with beautiful daughters. This was certainly the case with Sharon Tate. Sharon Tate had her father's features, but feminized and it worked. Her dad was rather handsome looking. Her mother, Doris, while definitely pretty, was nowhere near as beautiful as Sharon Tate and her daughters. It is often said that the father's looks can hinder a woman's appearance (giving them a strong jaw, etc). But in this case it worked. This works against the notion that beautiful mothers make beautiful daughters or handsome fathers make handsome sons. Sons can take after their mother's appearance, or mother's family members, for example

Actress Sharon Tate looked almost nothing like her mother.
