Germany financial chaos: Merkel on brink as economy in freefall and ‘heading for a crisis’

GERMANY is veering towards a full-blown recession, with a leading German think-tank warning the confidence in the country’s economy went into “freefall” in July amid concerns about the impact of global trade conflict and US President Donald Trump’s protectionist approach.

The U.S. is one of Germany's largest export markets where 107 billion euros p.a. of German products are sold to the U.S. The U.K. (Germany's third largest export market) will be leaving the E.U. most likely without any trade deal agreement and without paying £39 billion to the EU in any divorce settlement, and is planning to do more global trade with the U.S. and British Commonwealth nations, etc, outside of the restrictive EU market. Germany will need to find another EU country with large spending power to buy their products after Brexit.
