East Germanic because they got assimilated by Poles, a good choice (on the other hand Swedes have chosen to get assimilated by Somalis etc.).

Germans and Dutch are still heavily Germanic, however the English are not (and have never been for that matter), they are of a similar stock from the Irish, Scottish and Welsh.

While true that the English descend in part from the same R1b-L21 Bell Beaker and later Celtic stock as the other British Islanders, isn't it the case that according to most studies the southern and eastern English range from 20-50% "Anglo-Saxon" or Germanic and also have large percentages of Germanic Y-DNA, mostly R1b-U106? This would seem to lend a strong Germanic component to many English, or as much as a good portion of Germany which descends from R1b-U152, etc. Hallstatt Celts.

I don't have the source on hand, but during the Viking period there was a sense shared by both the Danes/Norse and English that they derived from common stock.
