My point is that people don’t know the real meaning of the term, just the bastardized version you hear today. Just because the term is misused, doesn’t take away from its original meaning. Read Protestant Establishment by Dickhead if you want to know what the term really means. Let me know if one sentence in the book is anti-Anglo.

Sounds like the inspiration for every leftist commentary to this day. 'Priveliged white men afraid of losing power to more deserving minorities'.

Yeah, being called WASP is something of a compliment. Now people apply the term to rich, preppy white Americans in general, but it originally meant a small, elite group of Anglo Americans on the east coast that went to the same prep and Ivy League schools.

In nearly all popular culture 'WASPs' are portrayed as overly-priveliged, cruel/evil, racist/anti-semitic and exclusionary, greedy, soulless and bland. That is thus what it is to be 'Anglo-Saxon', and why so many Americans now won't even identify with their heritage, because of this popular portrayal.

Read the book and judge for yourself. It’s a mistake to extrapolate based on a brief summary. In the book, he wasn’t really saying minorities should be adsorbed into WASP society, but rather that it should extend beyond Anglos to groups like German Americans who were largely outside of WASP culture ( check an old social register). Not that radical of an idea. Also, I don’t believe the author was any kind of leftist, but I’ll let you be the judge of that. We wouldn’t be talking about WASPs today if not for this book.
