One of my biggest mistakes in recent times was voting and supporting Bolsonaro and the actual status quo. Probably, I'll carry this burden until the last days of my life. If you people think that conflicts between natives and "civilized people" ended, then you do need to review your concepts. The war perpetuated by the capitalism didn't finished. People and cultures which refuse to adapt themselves are killed and annihilated. Our miserable president, during the presidential run in 2018, used to joke on native peoples, offending them through pathetic jokes and rants. Now, he is easing what happened on last week.
Bolsonaro wants to develop the regions inhabited by the natives, claiming that they are coveted by others countries, and that if the Brazilian government does not intervene there, small countries ruled by foreign nations will emerge. Bolsonaro already said that he wants to decrease the size of indigenous reserves, to explore the regions around Amazonia Forest. He is a very know ally of farmers and companies with interests on Amazonia.
Ilegal invasors, logging companies, and gold miners feel themselves more confortable and tranquil now, since Bolsonaro's thoughts and rants were very pro exploration and violent toward native peoples and their reserves.
"Dozens of gold miners have invaded a remote indigenous reserve in the Brazilian Amazon where a local leader was stabbed to death and have taken over a village after the community fled in fear, local politicians and indigenous leaders said. The authorities said police were on their way to investigate.
Illegal gold mining is at epidemic proportions in the Amazon and the heavily polluting activities of garimpeiros – as miners are called – devastate forests and poison rivers with mercury. About 50 garimpeiros were reported to have invaded the 600,000-hectare Waiăpi indigenous reserve in the state of Amapá on Saturday.
The men were spotted days after the murder of Emyra Waiăpi, a community leader, whose body was found near the village of Mariry early on Wednesday.
Indigenous people evacuated Mariry and fled to the bigger village of Aramiră – where shots were fired on Saturday. Indigenous leaders and local politicians have called for urgent police help, fearing a bloodbath."
