Short forehead, brachycephalic or mesocephalic, moderate bow ridge often more visible emerging on the side of the face in the temporal region, deep set eyes, wavy ( with the classic bump in the middle but overall straight) noses with middle placed root (step between nose root and bow ridge is often visible), bulbous chin and short nose to lip section is what i can say from roman statues to be roman features.

Bobo vieri looks Roman as an example

    Very interesting post.

Are you referring to ancient or modern Romans, or both?

Atlanto-Meds, Nordo-Meds, some of them have dinarid influences too.

these are in my opinion the most common carachteristics i personally observed in statues (republican statues because from Imperial times abstractism seems to become more prominent first in a certian tendency to gracilize traits and then becoming a real stylization of the subject).

once in a while i found people still looking like that in everyday life here in Rome as well, of course having all those peculiarities would make a person stereotypical, but starting from just a bunch of them at once and the vibes become apparent in my opinion.

So the Roman phenotype would be something like keltic nordid-corded+gracile-med?

Dream on. The average Roman was a Dinaric Mediterranean Sicilianoid. Would fit well in one of Sikeliot's famous nightclub threads.

They are still Romans, they live in Rome, The Romans weren't all Roman either, Romans made up a tiny fraction of the Peninsula. That is like calling all Greeks and Greek city states/subjects/protectorates Athenians.
Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.

Even if this were hard--that is how it is ! Assuredly, however, by far the harder fate is that which strikes the man who thinks he can overcome Nature, but in the last analysis only mocks her. Distress, misfortune, and diseases are her answer.

Caligula's bust restored to original colors identified from particles in the marble, is probably a good example of fairly typical Roman looks.

Where would he pass best today?
