You've made it sound kinda dramatic with that title, but it's not, really. Humans can't catch COVID-19 from an animal the same way they can from a human, through respiratory droplets. The article is more about the attack itself, which is suprising on its own. I mean, it's no secret that India isn't exactly the most competent nation out there, but a bunch of monkeys can break into a fucking laboratory and raid it? Come on now, that's a whole another level.

There are a lot of primates of variety of different species that are living in India and so on. I mean, cases like this isn't abnormal in India and so on.

Monkeys present in big numbers usually near big ancient buildings. Some times run away with peoples belongings

Usually devotees near temple provide free food like Bananas, coconuts to these monkeys

Yeah, but one would expect at least a biolab with dangerous viruses to have some sort of measures to prevent that. It's literally just a bunch of monkeys, I imagine you don't need things like laser motion detector beams for that.

Why? All mammals can sneeze afaik. Here we have animal to human cases with mink breeders.

Well, India, especially in the North, is a very underdeveloped country and so on where religious sectarianism is much more important than trying to fix the problems that the country is facing when it comes to poverty, diseases, pollution, sanitation and so on. One can see on how the BJP, a Hindu nationalist party, had won numerous re-elections despite not doing much if anything on these things.

I'm neither a biochemist nor a medic, so I don't know about the reasons behind that, but it's not that simple.

While we can’t say it would be impossible to catch the coronavirus from a cat or dog, the research suggests this is extremely unlikely. There are currently no reported cases of people catching the coronavirus from animals.
The World Health Organization says that “based on current evidence, human to human transmission remains the main driver” of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that “further evidence is needed to understand if animals and pets can spread the disease.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that there is no evidence pets can spread COVID-19 to people.
While your cat can get infected, according to the science, it is extremely unlikely they could pass it to you. In fact, if your cat is infected, the chances are your cat caught the coronavirus from you.
