this is a thread where people can talk about the Gaulish language, people, and their genetic and cultural impact on Europe today. I would implore you not to make asterix jokes or post pictures of inaccurate, wing helmeted savage Gauls being held up on shields, but I won't stop you...
I'll start by saying the this map of French and German admixture in Europe makes me think that it represents Gaulish admixture for the most part, and that the broadly northwest European category is actually more likely to represent west and maybe east Germanic

I hate to be a debbie downer, but That 23andme map doesn't represent Gaulish ancestry rather its recent ancestry 1000 years old tops.... the furthest it will pick up is jute-angle-saxon stuff, nothing farther back

I hate to be a debbie downer, but That 23andme map doesn't represent Gaulish ancestry rather its recent ancestry 1000 years old tops.... the furthest it will pick up is jute-angle-saxon stuff, nothing farther back

what then is italian admixture which clearly shows the impact of the roman empire

or greek and balkan, which clearly shows the ancestry of paleo balkan people as greeks, romanians and croatians don't really have anything else in common
