As an outsider I can't believe two slavic european countries can dislike eachother so much tbh. Unless one of them or both are not proper slavs.

My great grandfather was raised as orphan after his family is killed. He was from that area, village near Valjevo.

So which one is not Slavic, Ukraine or Russia? For them is even more weird since both are Orthodox.

Problem in west Balkan is religion divide and 3 different centers of power (USA, Russia, Turkey) who divided those 3 people (Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks). Rest is history, lot of victimes and revenges. Never ending circle.

There were 200.000 Serbs in Krajina, but 400.000 Serbs are less in Croatia than in census 1991. Why? Because Croats expell Serbs both from Krajina, but also from other parts that were loyal to "democratic" (read: ustašian) Croatia.

We were part of Empire and our duty was to fight in menaingless wars initiated by them.

It was still Yugoslavia, Yugoslav army still was there to protect country from separatists. Until officires left and everything broke down. That's another point if view. Serbia never was in direct war as independent country ( rather say rest of Yugoslavia with Serbia and Montenegro).
