Just so everyone here on this forum which Mr. Francis has been active on for almost 10 years knows that he will not be posting here anymore, I would like to announce that he passed away peacefully a little over 3 months ago. Now that some time has passed I think it ts appropriate to share this with you.

If he had a chance I'm sure he would have said goodbye as he had bonded with certain members, especially Kazimiera. You can honor his memory by reflecting upon any positive interactions you have had of him over the years.Martin H. Francis, 88, of South Glastonbury, passed away unexpectedly, after a brief illness, on April 24th, 2019. He was born August 10th, 1930 in Waterford CT, to the late Hilda Moe and George Francis. He attended Trinity College, graduating in 1948. Shortly after which, he enlisted in the Navy, where he served, into the 1950's. He previously lived in Hartford CT, before settling in South Glastonbury in 1956, where he lived for 63 years. He went on to become a professor at Trinity and Central Connecticut State College, teaching Geology and Astronomy, till he retired in 1987. Martin was a patron of the arts and enjoyed history, science and photography. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and was a long time member of The Sons of Norway Hartford Lodge. Although he has no surviving family, Martin leaves a small number of close friends and a large number of acquaintances, who will miss his sense of humor and remember him fondly. A period of visitation will be held 12pm-1:30pm on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019 at The Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpke., Glastonbury, CT. 06033. A memorial service will follow immediately at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will conclude services in Old Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to: Save the Children, Protectors of Animals or The Wounded Warrior Project.
