Default Upper Kolpa River Valley People.

My mothers ancestry comes from a small village called Osilnica right on the border between Croatia and Slovenia. I have learned that virtually in the area of Prezid to Brod na Kupi on the Croatian side and Novi Kot to Star Trg/Kostel on the Slovenian side make up their own ethno-cultural area. There have been centuries of mixing between Croats and Slovenes with historic German influence that create basically their own ethno-linguistic group. Post your thoughts.

I am from Zagorje (Croatia) but have several autosomal matches from that area. Also, my neighbor is from Gorski Kotar and she has close relatives from Kočevje who are Slovenes with German roots. I learned that Germans came to Kočevje (Gottschee) from Tyrol in Medieval Age. One of my Y-dna matches is from Skenderi on the Croatian-Slovenian border (haplo I-A815*).

Most people from this area will plot closest to Slovenian's and Croats with some German influence.
