Personally my ethnicity or my nationality has nothing to do with my identity. My identity has more to do with my personal interests, my career, my values more than anything else

Idk if this really counts, but my paternal side is mostly just standard Iberian and my maternal side is Canarian, both are Spanish obviously but the makeup of a Canarian is a little bit different (some distant Guanche). I just identify as Spaniard or Spanish - American, but since the Canaries do have their own distinct identity from the peninsula I do also feel a kinship with the local culture aswell, especially since growing up I spent more time around my mothers side.

The other stuff like Southern French and Corsican, among other things, are too distant for me to really feel close to, so identifying as Spanish - American or Spaniard (depending on how distasteful I feel about America on a given day, haha) is obvious.

I resemble an Iberian and I have ethnic Portuguese people in my family (but no ethnic Amerindians or Africans), so I identify more with my Iberian heritage.

But I don't feel particularly close to modern Iberians as a whole, I feel more of a kinship with other Sudacas / Latinos who grew up watching the Libertadores, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, El Chavo and love bubblebutts as much as I do.

Yeah, I mean ancestry is only one part of identity, really! Like a random example I can think of is Americans that are 100% (or close to anyway) Irish yet know nothing about Ireland and have never been there, whereas like the son of African immigrants to Ireland is obviously not ethnically Irish, but culturally they are way more than the person who is 100%.

Yeah, I know some things about Portugal for obvious reasons, but in terms of culture, interests and experiences I'm much closer to other South Americans than to the Portuguese people.

I don't really feel a strong connection with other Sudacas (or even to Brazilians as a whole) to be honest, but I can recognize I'm much closer to them.

This question would obviously apply to many colonials but also Europeans of mixed ancestry, do you like or identify more with one of your ethnic backgrounds more than the others? If so what and why?

Similarly, is there a part of your ancestry that you might not like or identify the least with? If so what and why?

I dunno, man on paper I'm Irish, German and English but I don't feel that mix is different from what can be found in parts of the UK since the UK is various degrees of admixture of Celtic, Continental Germanic and Viking.
