The ex-king of Malaysia whose whirlwind marriage to a Russian beauty queen stunned his people is poised to marry a more 'suitable' bride selected by his family after being forced to dump his wife, according to sources at the Kremlin.

While glamorous Oksana Veovodina, 27, continues to deny a marital split from abdicated monarch Sultan Muhammad V, a diplomatic source in Moscow claims his clan has 'already chosen' him a new bride deemed more suitable.

Friends say the Russian socialite has not received any divorce paperwork and does 'not understand' why the former king, 50, suddenly 'went cold' on her.

But pro-Kremlin newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravd, claimed in a major new report that it was the disapproval of the monarch's family that led him to give up the Malaysian throne earlier this year, a few months after his secret wedding to the surgeon's daughter and ex-Miss Moscow.

Until now, the reason has not been clear but the newspaper cited its own source in the Russian Foreign Ministry saying the ex-king - known as Faris - was forced to lose both his crown and his glamorous beauty queen wife by his family, especially his 70 year old mother, and other Malaysian sultans.

'According to my information, the king's family is hostile to the Russian wife,' said the source who also denied that there was any doubt over the paternity of the child Oksana gave birth to in May, despite this question being raised by a lawyer acting for the former king.

The paper, which is Russia's most widely read, said the Kremlin source was 'official' and had a close understanding of Malaysia: 'The woman herself did not give any cause for jealousy.

'The family of the king was against Oksana from the very beginning.

'It is traditional to marry women from their own society. Oksana was the wrong choice in all meanings of the word.

'At first the king looked decisive. He said he would marry her and he did. But the couple had to keep their marriage secret for a few months.'

Soon the situation became unsustainable and the king did not voluntarily abdicate, said the source.

'He was forced by the sultans who were not happy with his choice of wife.

'In Malaysia the king is a sort of a representative but the sultans run the country.

'They pushed Muhammad towards the decision that if he went against his family when he married the Russian woman, so he had to abdicate.

He said – "Right, I will abdicate".

'Maybe he hoped that his family and high society would then accept his wife.

'But it did not happen. Faris's mother did not get along well with his wife either.

'The members of his family clan put a lot of pressure on him and he stepped backwards.

'He agreed to a sharia divorce.'

The sultan's mother is known as Tengku Anis Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid, or Tengku Anis.

In an extraordinary claim the source was quoted as saying: 'I was told that for the sake of divorce in court, his lawyers said that it was about her infidelity, and that he doubted his fatherhood.

Reports in Moscow say that Oksana is quietly raising her child at the ex-king's expense in a country house at the elite estate of Barvhika, favoured by the Russian elite

'But Faris himself does not doubt that he is the father. He just let his lawyer do everything.

'The second party (Oksana) was not informed.'

This was 'because in the Muslim world nobody would care for the opinion of a woman, and a foreign woman especially.

'According to some information, a new wife for Muhammad has already been chosen by the family clan, and probably the quick divorce was needed in order to marry her.'

Meanwhile Oksana's lawyer Evgeny Tarlo has angrily denied there is any valid divorce in place.

And he made clear Oksana would not take kindly to her husband taking a new wife.

'I spoke to Oksana yesterday,' he said.

'She has passed the following message to the press: 'there is no divorce'.

'She stressed that the child has linked her to her husband forever.

'And their personal relationship – it is only their own business.

'Her husband fully provides for her. Oksana is busy only with her child.'

Apart from the baby's ears infection he is healthy and putting on weight, said the lawyer.

Tarlo - a former Russian senator - said: 'It is not possible to get divorced according Sharia or any other law without informing the other party.

'We have not received a single document.

'Without legal grounds, all those talks about divorce is just speculation.'

He also insisted that despite the marital scandal, the pair are still in touch and that Oksana is talking to her son in the Malay language which she is also learning.

'Yes, she is in touch, they are interested in the baby,' he said.

'Oksana is regularly sending him photographs.

Asked by KP newspaper if Oksana (pictured) would accept her husband taking another wife, he said: 'No, she is not ready. She loves her husband, she cares for their baby.'

'Her husband is busy with his business in Malaysia. He has got work and business commitments.'

But the lawyer admitted that that the ex-king had done nothing to deny the divorce reports.

A friend called Tatiana Andrea - who organised the Miss Moscow 2015 parents that Oksana won - said: 'She looks great.

'But it is obvious that she is suffering…

'She thinks only about her baby. She had a complicated pregnancy. She was taken to hospital eight times to keep her pregnancy going.

'She was on good terms with her husband, I saw this myself. And it is not clear what is going on on his end now. Why did he go cold?

'Oksana does not understand it either. The Malaysian papers are writing that it is not his baby. But this is nonsense. Oksana is a faithful wife.'

In her social media Oksana expressed regret at her son's ear infection.

'I did not cover him with a thick blanket after the bath and it was so cold outside, just plus 6 C,' she posted.

'I feel so guilty.

'In order to avoid the complications after otitis - that can lead to losing hearing - I had to give strong antibiotics to my son, although he is just ten weeks old.'

She thanked her fans for their support.

It was a lawyer in Singapore, Koh Tien Hua, who raised the question about the baby's father.

He was quoted saying last month: 'There is no objective evidence as yet as to the biological father of the child.'

He has declined to say more regarding the paternity issue.

He claimed another Moscow lawyer named Alexander Dobrovinsky had been informed of the Sharia divorce which was finalised on 1 July.

Dobrovinsky declined to comment.
