The less known Greek town of "Icarus" was built under Alexander's the Great order on the island "Failaka" in the Persian Gulf, in the territory of Kuwait.

Its name is thought to originate from the greek word "Fylakai" which literally means "place to guard" or "place to protect", ( . . . ) as the whole area is the point of exit of Mesopotamia to the ocean.

Uptil now, buildings that have been found in the city that has been built at 326 B.C. are an elegant Artemis Temple, a statuettes work shops and an eleven rooms ancient guest house.

The exquisite "Icarus Tablet" which in 43 rows describes the ancient orders for the up keeping of the Artemis Temple, broke in seven pieces during the 1991 invasion and is kept in boxes now, while all island inhabitants have been relocated to other Kuwait locations due to the invasion.
