How does this effect daily life there? The sun must set a little late. Especially in Galicia! I would dislike this as I hate it when its hot at night, and hate waking up when its dark. I think it would be better to be an hour off in the opposite direction; Gets dark early, then light early in the morning, helps you wake up for work. Interestingly from the look of this map all the nations with the wrong time zone are usually +1 what they should be like Spain, very few regions are the opposite (lots of places where sun sets and rises late, few places where it rises and sets earlier than it should).
Franco switched the clocks to be in line with Nazi Germany as a diplomatic/political move. Years later they haven't switched back. Some articles claim this leaves people in spain without as much sleep as they would get if the time zone was as it should be.
The Graun claims that spanish people are underslept and less productive than they would be with a normal timezone.
