Balts or Celts: who would be victorious?

If it were just the modern Celtic nations, I might give the edge to the Celts especially given the martial reputation of the Scots and Irish historically. That said none of the Celtic nations built an empire on conquest equivalent to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the later Middle Ages.

If you mean the modern descendants of the ancient Celts then I'd say Celts no question since this would include the English, French, Belgians, and a significant amount of Germans, among others.

Although they may have not been a unified force, the Celtic people conquered far more land then the polish-Lithuanian commonwealth, and in the Iron Age I’d say the point definitely goes to the celts, as well as the early Middle Ages or ‘dark ages’ as some call it

These 2 ethnicities are from smaller less populated nations set apart by distance, their peoples and cultures never clashing. Had they clashed in war who would have came out on top?

During the Iron Age they were not to far from each other with the eastward Gallic conquest all the way into european turkey and Ukraine, especially with the Balts at that point having far more land then they do today

True i guess, especially if people are mixing from the same village or surrounding villages for generations. How else would these rare lineages stay alive as well

There are other options how these so called rare lineages stayed.
- Maybe it was never so rare (autosomal) and maybe it's carried by haplogroups other than eg. G2a
- Maybe it's inherited from female sides

In ancient times the Celts were more powerful, but became irrelevant by medieval times, while the Baltic Lithuanians conquered a large empire in Eastern Europe during the Late Middle Ages. By the late 18th century both were small conquered peoples. Probably the Gaelic Irish and Highland Scots have a more impressive military career in the British army though. Still both groups are rather small and not warlike anymore. The question is kind of silly, even because these peoples aren't even neighbours.

I think it is obvious that it is Celts and even if Irish and Scots were subsumed into the British Empire they were always among the best troops. Even at the Battle of Waterloo Irish troops were heavily represented and when Irish fought they were always good soldiers. Irish, Welsh and Scots were noted as good fighters. Irish were also great mercenaries and were involved in French, Spanish and even Russian armies.
