Default Why would upward slanted eyes (positive canthal tilt) be considered good looking?

I am puzzled why having eyes that slant upward would be considered aesthetically pleasing? IMO, It looks odd and almost cat like. It isn't attractive at all.

To give an example here is the upward slant (attractive??__)

    VS. Normal

If people like 'ol slanty eyes, more power to them. But it isn't ideal, IMO.

I have upturned eyes and I think it looks lot better than downturned ones. But this is simply my opinion.

Downturned would be droopy. The best ideal is neutral.

A lot of celebs wear false lashes and also winged liquid eyeliner that is carefully flicked up and outwards along the outer corners of the upper lash line. This creates an optical illusion of the eye shape, (combined with gently blending the eyeshadow at the outer corners of the eyes, and wearing a few false longer lashes at the outer upper corners of the eyes.)

I rarely wear make-up, (once or twice a year at most - and even then, I like to keep it extremely subtle - as I prefer a natural look and don't feel the need to wear it, nor like the feel of make-up on my skin as it's not healthy for your skin - as the skin can't breathe and it can clog your pores,) but sometimes on special occasions (such as Halloween,) I like wearing some liquid eyeliner to create a slightly vampire/evening effect.

It takes time to apply make-up in the mornings (and it already takes me enough time to apply all my sunscreen protection lotions,) and I like to just go straight outside to work without messing around to apply face paints - plus make-up can run in the heat, so it requires touch-ups throughout the day.... it's too much hassle. Then you need special cleansers to remove the make-up before washing your face at night - as soap and water by itself doesn't remove it properly. When I use public toilets in busy parks and cafes, etc, I often see females standing in front of the mirrors and slapping a lot of make-up on their faces after using the toilet, and they spray so much hairspray and perfumes that it makes me cough... I don't have time for all that... so I just use a small squirt of perfume and a comb of the hair... and I just wash my hands and leave.

I think it's sad that so many females are insecure that they feel they can't be seen in public without make-up. I have no issues with walking along busy streets, using the busy trains and underground, walking around parks full of people.... and never wearing any make-up (not even a tiny bit.) I think it's sad that people can't be natural and many people are artificial.

I've seen some reports of women who say they wake-up very early to apply their make-up before their boyfriend wakes up and sees them without a mask of make-up. When you're with a man in a relationship and he sees you first thing in the morning, or when he sees you in hospital, of if you're feeling unwell... he'll know your natural appearance anyway at some point in a relationship, such as when you come out of the shower, etc.... so what's the point in being pretentious by covering/altering your natural appearance with a deceptive mask of face paint.

Angelina Jolie likes the vampire effect too as her professional make-up artists flick the upper eyeliner out and upwards at the outer corners of her eyes, combined with adding some slightly longer individual fake lashes glued to the upper outer corners of her eyes, before the lengthening and volumising mascara is applied to her eyelashes.

See the liquid eyeliner used on the upper lashline is extended upwards on the outer corner.... and the eyeliner make-up on the inner corner of the upper lashline is extending downwards... and only the outer third of the lower lash line is enhanced with a dark colour, whilst the inside and inner corner of the lower lash line has a sparkly pale colour to make the eyes appear sparkly and larger than they really are.

With less make-up her eye shape looks different.

The English singer Sophie Ellis Bextor also uses this make-up style with her eyes.

And sometimes the make-up artists also tilt the upper lash-liner in the inner corners of her upper lash line in a slightly exaggerated downward shape in the inner corner of the eyes.... and upwards on the outer corner. The lower lashline is highlighted with a white colour to make the eyes larger.

Just like lip liner is used around the outer edge of the lips to create the appearance of fuller lips (along with highlighter and definition make-up products to shape the cheekbones,) liquid eyeliner and eye make-up products that are carefully applied can alter the appearance of the eye shape.

    With less make-up.

And to show it's not photoshop effects... on video cam with heavy make-up.

    With less make-up.

Cameron Diaz's eye shape also looks different when she's wearing heavy make-up.

She said she suffers from skin problems caused by all the heavy make-up she wears. I have a Brazilian work colleague who wears a lot of make-up, but some days she doesn't have time to apply it all.... and her skin often looks very unhealthy and bad without the make-up as the heavy make-up is clogging her pores.

A lot of celebs have surgery, fake hair pieces sewn into their hair to make it appear thicker and longer, fake nails, fake teeth, fake body parts, fake lashes, fake tan, heavy make-up, injected lips, botoxed foreheads, professional hair colourists and hair stylists, special lighting, professional photography, and even with all the professional make-up and styling and lighting... the pictures are still enhanced with photoshop touch-ups. A lot of the images shown of celebs aren't their real/natural appearance.

Jocelyn Wildenstein has paid huge sums of money in a vain attempt to have her face and eye shape changed, as she said she 'wanted to look like a cat-woman - in an attempt to win her husband back after he divorced her...' but all that surgery has scared him off instead.

Melania Trump also looks like she's surgically altered her eye shape.

I think it's better for the skin and eye health to not wear make-up - and a lot of cosmetics are tested on animals and contain some unpleasant chemicals.

It shouldn't matter if it was tested on animals. Better than being tested on humans.
