Another fallacy is the one where people associate whiteness = richness in the Latin American context.
While it's true that the elite of countries like Brazil and Mexico, for example, tend to be very white when compared to the working class folks, they (whites) can be found in all social classes and nobody will think a common Iberian/Italian looking person looks too white to be a working class Latino(a).
