Croatian hooligans attacked Serbs near Knin

This is just the latest in a line of several uprovoked attacks made towards ethnic Serbs, both locals and visitors, this very summer in Croatia.



It's because we're all just Gypsies and Turks to them. Anyone west of the Drina river is.

Well this is not true. My ex identifies as Serb and orthodox and he lives all life in Croatia, maybe he had some unplesant situation once or twice when out drinking, but nobody ever made his life difficult. He doesn't hide his identity.

But it is in Rijeka, rural Zagora is certanly different indeed.

Well, it was not a wise decision. I certanly wouldn't stone them like Dušan is implying but this is Dalmatia, we are not overly tolerant and Zagora is right wing region with fresh wounds from war, everyone with enough smarts will keep low profile and try not to provoke much more numerous locals.

In Serbia exist full or almost full Krajina Serb settlements, where lived Serbs who were expelled from Croatia in 1990s by force. If somebody watch Croatian teams in pubs in their settlements nothing would happen, I guarantee you.

1. They were almost all Četniks in WW2 (Dinara Četnik division)
2. Heart of Serbian rebellion in 1991 was in Knin
3. Most of Zvezda fans and sympathisers are nationalistic Serbs

Rijeka is notorious for being 'overly tolerant' and is probably the only such place in Croatia. Even the supporters of the rival football teams make a referrence to that fact in a derogatory manner typical of ultras:

Tension between us truly went up and most of it is because of your government agressive foreign politics and history revision. Say whatever you want for Croatia, but our PM or President did not participate in wars, called on murder of 100 enemies for every of our own and did not shout how some town in Serbia will never be Serbian again.

You have četniks in your leadership, we have eurocrats in our elite. Among common people number of radicals is probably on pair but there are no people with dark past in Croatian governament and yours is full of them.

What does any of that have to do with couple of people being attacked just because they peacefully watched a football game?
You are clearly trying to find some excuses for this attack, but there are none.

Me and my little sister were abused verbally and physically by one Torcida Fan who was on drugs during bus ride from Dalmatia to Rijeka many years ago, just because we are from that city (he did not know we are Dalmatian origin). I was maybe 13 and my sister 11.

It was one of most traumatising episodes of my life and bus was almost empthy so nobody helped us (we were so shocked we didn't know to ask for help)

He mentioned Serbs, commumists etc. Torcida is biggest pile of trash on our ultras scene. Man who abused us 2 little girls for no reason whatsoever was old like I am now.

Zvezda was most popular team among Dalmatian Serbs in SFRJ, but solid number of them supported Hajduk. There was more supporters of Hajduk than supporters of Partizan from Belgrade among Dalmatian Serbs. Mirko Marjanović was ridiculed in Knin by local Serbs because he was fan of Partizan.

That's exactly what I mean. You have a group of highly unpredictable, dangerous individuals crusing around the country, threatening and beating up anyone they dislike or disagree with for over two decades already. I don't see why it's so hard to admit Croatia has a problem that's gotton way out of hand.
