And Belarus is just north of Steppe historically, culturally, genetically. There is no Baltic port in Belarus show me where in the map
Belorussians and Lithuanians arguably have had a closer relationship historically than with Poles and Lithuanians.

Both were a part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Also Belarus once once controlled by Lithuania in Medieval Times.

Numbers don’t mean much, not sure what you’re getting at there.

I’m no linguist, but there are supposed to be Baltic hydronyms everywhere and most of at least northern Belarus was home to the Yotvingians at the least, perhaps other Baltic tribes as well. There are known Baltic mounds around Lake Narach at the least.

Belarus isn’t “just north” of the steppe, and it is indeed in old Baltic territory. i Mean, right in the thick of it! Closer to the steppe? Huh?

In the 7th-8th centuries CE Baltic tribes were living in much of what is today Belarus:

2/3 of present day Belarus was Baltic before Slavic expansion and numerous Baltic toponyms, hydronyms and in the end genetics witness to that.

Belarusian member told me that. He has Baltic type of R1a and lot of Baltic admixture genetically. Normal since he was from close to Latvian border.

Only part of Belarus that was purely Slavic is Pripyat River Basin/Polesia. According to him, at least.

True. However people within the Grand Duchy of Lithuania would have a closer relationship with other people living there than with people living in The Crown of the Kingdom of Poland.

Back in the time of King Mindaugas the Kingdom of Lithuania separate from Poland had control over modern day Belarus.

The Grand Duchy of Lithuania included most of the territory claimed by The Kingdom of Lithuania at the time of King Mindaugas.

Poles are closer to West Balts, Belarusians to East Balts.
