If this is all true, I wouldn’t take this lightly. This is a serious matter that you should be on top of every step of the way. Not only from a legal standpoint (she or the state can put you on the hook for child support any time they please), but also from a moral standpoint. You brought a child into this world. It should be your responsibility to care for it. If you didn't want kids right now, you should have worn protection or gotten a vasectomy!

Either way, you have to decide if you want to be involved or not, and then you have to commit. There's no going back once you're in a kid's life. Going and leaving is way more damaging than not being there at all.
