Historically, the original Jews were converts, genetically close to the Semitic peoples of the Mediterranean east. Many other peoples became around that region, and when they left that region, they mixed with various peoples. The Jews have a common origin in the peoples of the Middle East, in the Levant, "Syria, Lebanon, present-day Israel" etc ..., but tens of hundreds of years have passed, and they have mixed with many peoples. The Ashkenazim, were mixed with European populations.
They were mixed so much, that they are almost indistinguishable from a normal European. The same has happened in other parts of the world, therefore, a Spanish Jew does not physically distinguish himself from the Spanish, a Moroccan Jew does not distinguish himself from Moroccans, and a German Jew does not distinguish himself from other Germans on average.
