Canada in the 90's were actually quite formidable - they reached the quarter-finals in 1991 and elsewhere had victories over Wales and France. In recent years, however, they have really gone downhill. Another team to have really deteriorated since the heyday in the 90's is Samoa: they were competitive against a not-altogether impressive Scotland for the first half-hour and then eventually lost 34-0 (two of Scotland's tries were penalty tries).

Yeah, I bet Brian Lima felt like dressing his kit and hitting the lawn to help the lads.

But I'm not discussing that, I'm just saying that we shouldn't see this habit as something harmful to rugby. It's the only way to spread the sport and make more countries more competitive.
Well let's hope it's just a small trend in the development of rugby.
I also find it strange to see football national team whre absolutly no players play and live in the country. So in a way rugby has some logical aspect.

Spain should be in this World Cup.

I support Argentina, but seems that it will be really hard for them this time.

If the Rugby World Cup is not expanded to 24 teams in 2023, Canada will not play it.

In the qualification process they lost against Uruguay, and then in the repechage Germany, actually in the third level of european rugby, played fine against them. If Romania or Spain, the ones that should have played that repechage, had gone, they would be actually out.

In general terms classical Tier2 teams have lost level (USA, Canada, pacific ones) since the 90´s and non-anglosaxon influenced countries have improved much (Argentina, Japan, Uruguay, Spain, Georgia)

I'm very glad Wales held on to beat a difficult Fiji team and are now through to the quarter-finals. All the same, it was ridiculous for World Rugby to allow Japan to host the Cup at this time of year in the first place, given it is typhoon season and thus the key England-France match has been cancelled on Saturday, meaning that either of them will have far more rest than Wales do before the knockout stage.

Are Dan Biggar, Neil Jenkins or Shane Williams bigger than Gareth Bale or Ryan Giggs to Welsh public and media and all?

    Nice tournament so far.
If you see a post in red font made by my username, that means that it is Pompey's post, not mine.
