Is east Germany mentally and politically eastern european ?

I obviously have in mind speacific part of Germany alone (former DDR)

I would say the eastern part has more nationalistics feelings about germany, the rest more europeists. But i don't know i'm not german, it's just the way i feel it is over there

They are closer mentally to East Euros due to less brainwashing during second half of XX cent, and generally don't have german guilt complex, but not really EE in strict sense.

Yea. West Germans even had to borrow in order to boost the East since they were so underdeveloped due to Communism.

Had it not been for reunification, the German debt would not have increased so much in just one decade. East Germany is just excess package. Danzig has many commies even now.

But do you think they're more nationalistic because of them being underdeveloped? Because in Europe it does seems like the higher economical development, the more liberal the country is

The East German Educational System developed by the Soviets was an extremely anti-nationalistic scheme that pushed their culture down and only gave "The Workers Revolution" stew in return.

Germany is the only country paying for the refugees staying in Turkey, while the entire Eastern European part of the EU couldn't even muster up 100 million euros to keep them in Turkey forever.
