Basque, (it's one of the few surviving pre Indo-European languages and it's extremely ancient.)

    Obviously.
Politically they are not very likeable but as a culture they are the most fascinating phenomenon in Europe.

Not for me. Basque language uses a lot of Castilian words, just Basquecized, and are very easy to translate for Castilian speakers. This does not happen with these other languages to us.

I agree that they're a unique people with their own culture and unique language. I agree too in terms of all the ETA terrorist atrocities.

I think the murders of innocent people with terrorist bombs for political reasons make the ETA as despicable and criminal as the IRA and ISIS.

Any terrorist who murders innocent people in the name of politics or religion (or whatever their lame excuses are for killing innocent people) deserves the death penalty.

I've no objection to people peacefully seeking independence (as that's peoples democratic right).... but it's completely unacceptable and criminal behaviour to bomb, wound, maim, and kill innocent people (including travellers, children, and visitors,) due to a political dispute.

Basque should have been included in the poll.

Basque by far because they don't belong to any linguistic group. Hungarian and finnish aren't isolated, there are 30 million Uralic speaker in the world.

Basques have preserved a pre-Indo-European language, but not their genetics: they have an Indo-European contribution.

Sardinians have not been able to preserve their pre-Indo-European vasonic tongue, they talk a indo-european language : sardinian, but have been genetically preserved (especially those of Barbagia), since they are genetically predominantly pre-Indo-European at around 88% (or even more in some areas). So...

I prefere genetic preservation, in my case.
