This was early in the war when Croatian rebels attacked Yugoslav army barracks, so what did you expect that Yugoslav army would just let you take them without a fight? And this attack was led by JNA not Army of Krajina, which at the time didnt exist yet.
And you need to understand that best way of defense is attack, if Yugoslav army managed to take Sibenik and split Croatia in half this would make your position much harder and thus it would be easier for Serbs to demand more things at negotiations, so this attack doesn't necessarily mean that we wanted to incorporate Sibenik into Krajina.
This is very common in warfare, for example after WW1 Serbian army took some Hungarian cities and towns such as Pecs or Baja on which we didnt have any serious claims, but we did this to strengthen our position on negotiations table.
First time i hear that city was supposed to be renamed to Mladićevo lmao, that is kinda weird and i will need some sources to believe that.
