I mostly just use YouTube to listen to spoken audio, so no. Maybe 98% of the time when I "watch" videos at YouTube or BitChute I only listen to the audio. I have used the ImprovedTube extension for Chrome to change the default playback speed at YouTube to 1.85x, because almost all people speak too slowly.

No. I have 21 music bands (including some cover channels), 3 historians, 8 youtubers (for fun, makeup stuffs and scientific studies) and 2 political channels on my list.

I don't think all that many people can relate to almost pooping their pants. And I would be surprised if those who do relate really want to hear others talk about it.

Uncomfortable topics permeate your content. People will watch something else.

I have 103 subs on my YouTube channel despite the fact I've never made a single video or ever asked a single person to subscribe to my channel. Its probably around 7 years old now. My guess is that since I comment like crazy (well, used to) on YouTube, there are some people who liked a couple of my comments and just subscribed for that reason.

Anyways, to answer your question, no. In fact, I don't even really follow any YouTube channels. When I'm interested in a topic, then I'll just search for it.

No, I've discovered most of the time it's not looks, but niche content. The channel is very specialized, such as fitness, personality typing, or gaming channel, like pewdiepie. So it's not really based on looks but consistent content. When a channel decides to do other kinds of videos than what most of their audience is after, they start losing subs.
