it says in the article, they were mostly the result of relocation by Stalin during the soviet union from more Caucasian region countries where they were diaspora colonies

Medieval Kurds partly came from the region, most the region was under a Persian dynasty called Khwarazm, they used to be two separate people but merged together. I think the modern Kurdish/Iranian population is derived by the Soviet Union though.

They’ve been relocated there like everyone else. There is even a Romanian community in Kazakhstan. Tons of people have been moved to the kazakh steppes by Stalin

Yes, they were deporting people from one region to another to mix them all and to prevent any future uprisings
