That's debatable. The fact remains that CR7 never had a great euro or world cup, from 2004 to 2020. He had a lot of chances playing alongside different players.

That team of Portugal would not win the Champions League in a million years...not even with Ronaldo, besides Fernando Santos hasn't got any idea how to make a team play good attacking football.
Benfica (the base of Portugal) actually won the European Cup 2 times (1 without Eusebio) and reached the final in other 3, it was probably the all around best team in Europe during the 1960's.

The coach sucks, only knows to play defensive football, besides it is a team with a few weak points...and the coach has a fetiche for that piece of shit William Carvalho. Hope Renato Sanches recovers his form (it seems so at Lille), he was fundamental for Portugal at the Euro, the only player who can run 30 yards with ball and get the team forward.

During 60s:

Benfica had the bad luck of playing 2 finals almost at the home of the opponent:
-1965 with Inter at San Siro, the benfica GK was injured 30 minutes from the end but since there was no subs he had to play for the rest of the match and gave a "frango" (cantada)
-1968 at Wembley vs Man Utd: Eusebio made a great play but the shot hit the bar and just before extra time he missed an almost one on one vs the GK...then it went to extra time and we lost 4-1.

Cancelo right defender?? iirc he played in the left side in Valencia and Juventus...
Also he still needs to eat much Cola Cao to overcome Dani Carvajal or Kimmich.

Not with Fernando Santos that's for sure...this team would have no chance against Bayern and other top teams, besides those guys you mentioned with the exception of R.Dias play shit in the national team...but then again maybe it's the coach.
