When and why did immigrants became migrants?

What is all this "migrant" talk that we've been hearing for the last few years surrounding the massive invasion of Europe by foreign, non-European immigrants? Whatever happened to the term "immigrants"? After all a migrant can also be a native citizen moving from one part of the country to another. Why are the media and the so called elites making our languages foul with the stench of political correctness every day? Why now you can't even call a foreigner a foreigner? Why are even nationalist and conservative forum members referring to these non-European immigrants as migrants?

'Migrant' is a word pushed extremely hard in the media for the last 5 years since this rapefugee invasion has been orchestrated. Before that, "immigrant" was always used.

However, that word had the negative connotation, because people were always complaining about immigrants, negative connotation developed because immigrants are almost exclusively negative elements.

Immigrant means someone entering a country that is not their own to enter, emigrant means someone leaving the country they are from/that you are in. Migrant is a vague term which encompasses them both, and becomes unclear whether the person is from the country.
