    Default Compare 2 Gallo-Italic languages spoken in northern Italy, Piedmontese and Emilian.

    Their range:

    Note that:
    1. Big chunks of Piedmont speak languages different than Piedmontese such as Lombard, Ligurian, Occitan, Arpitan and Walser German;
    2. Piedmontese is also spoken in Lombardy, in a small area in Western Lomellina (Pavia area);
    3. Emilian is spoken not only in Emilia but also in Lombardy (Mantua area), in Tuscany and Liguria (Lunigiana) and in a small stretch of land in Veneto (Transpadana Ferrarese).

    So, what do they sound like to you? Which one is more familiar to your ears? Which is harder to comprehend?

    Turinese dialect of Piedmontese (spoken in Turin area):

    Reggiano dialect of Emilian (spoken in Reggio Emilia area):

    Piedmontese may have some Provençal influence with its "pa", "lë" and verb conjugation. Reggiano sounds exactly how I imagine a Piedmontese would speak after a stroke or several pints - no offense.

    Personally I like Lombard better, at once smoother than Emilian and more bluntly Gallo-Italic then Piedmontese:

    Spoiler!
    Is that Bresciano? I prefer Pavese, the most Emilian-like of the Lombard dialects, and Mantovano (basically Emilian):

    Cremasco.

    I can understand a good deal more of Mantovano compared to Reggiano, phonology is mostly Pan-Gallo-Italic. Pavese variety in that video on the other hand requires me to make an effort, sounds already offbeat..
