Default Alexander was Greek, Achilles probably wasn’t...

It is rather stupid to suggest that Alexander was Illyrian, how was he Illyrian when Illyrians fought against him? True Alexander had Illyrian and Thracian soldiers fighting for him, but so did the Ottoman Empire, Alexander conquered Paeonia while they fought against it.

I would like to know from Greeks how can you be proud of someone who forged an empire and probably massacred loads of people on his way? He carried an army...

I don’t actually believe that Achílleios was Greek, I’ve read The Iliad and I’ve read his history, I don’t believe he was Greek. Achilles in the Iliad is described as inflicting pain on the Achaeans, there is no doubt they are a Greek tribe, also he often refused to fight on the Greek side of Troy until his friend/cousin died, but he also regrets it at the end.

The Talmud tells us that the only language the Torah could be translated into elegantly is Greek.

Without his body it's speculation. Was he from a Hellenistic people? I would agree to that. But I am never certain of things like that unless there is some proof. Achilles Father was the king of Phthia and his mother was a sea nymph, Achilles actions don't make him ungreek, they just make him arrogant and vengeful. If you read the Iliad you would know Achilles refuses to fight so Agamemnon won't get the glory. You can't have a classic Greek character without character flaws, especially when it comes to Homer's works.

Very true, but Achilles is known to curse the Greeks, he would pray to Zeus to help the Trojans defeat the Greeks. Would a Greek today pray to God to help his enemies destroy Greece? I think not.

The narrative is that he would rather see the Greeks defeated and forced to flee home than see Agamemnon get the glory, he doesn't hate the Greeks, his vanity and selfishness make him indifferent to the plight of others, it's not until he faces tragedy himself that the carnage effects him. It's like a C.E.O of a large company not caring about the damage that he does to a company until he is arrested for embezzlement; there is a much bigger picture.

That doesn’t make sense... Trojans were the ones being attacked not the other way round.
