Default Classify French exchange students and guess which region of France they are from

I am posting pictures of 9 groups of French exchange students from 9 different city/regions. Please classify and see if you can match the students with their home regions. Each group is from a different city or region. Here is the list of the city/region:

    (South West) Nouvelle-Aquitaine
    (North) Paris, Île-de-France
(West) Saumur, Pays de la Loire
    (East) Strasbourg, Grand Est
    (South) Provence
    (East/Burgundy) Besançon, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
    (North) Hauts de France
    (South) Occitanie
    (North West) Brest, Brittany

And here are the pictures (in random order):

    #2

    #3

    #4

#5 (yeah, all of them are French)

#6 (only count the persons with green lanyard)

#7 (the guy in the middle is a local UK mayor that hosted these students)

This is not easy. I actually don't see much of a difference between the groups.

I guess you are right - it also speaks to the internal migration within the country to an extent. Here are the actual places for these students - let me know if you have any comments.

    #1 (South) Arles, Provence

    #2 (East/Burgundy) Besançon, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

    #3 (North West) Brest, Brittany

    #4 (North) Hauts de France

    #5 (North) Paris, Île-de-France

#6 (South) Nimes, Occitanie (only count the persons with green lanyard)

#7 (South West) Ruelle, Nouvelle-Aquitaine (the guy in the middle is a local UK mayor that hosted these students)

#8 (West) Saumur, Pays de la Loire

#9 (North East) Strasbourg, Grand Est

It's very sad how in many western European countries, it is getting more and more common to find less racial uniformity in crowd pictures (and particularly in student pictures) and getting more and more common to see some blacks and other racially non-Euro people here and there

The crowd from Strasbourg look more Germanic than the rest, but apart from that they all look pretty similar. Either way, aside from the Strasbourg group, they are noticeably more brunette than Brits.

Most of the ones from the southern French regions (the natives, of course) would easily pass in Spain.

France is by some distance the most multiethnic country in Europe - even more so than Britain. Still, nowhere in the West compares to the US in that respect.

Not sure if that would apply to France. It looks like if the French political class is doing their best to make sure that France turns into being as much multiethnic as US, or even more.

And large areas of US still remain overwhemly white and very racially uniform.

Only some very rural states in the Midwest are 90% or so White. And keep in mind that the US was multiracial from the start - in fact, upon independence Blacks were around 20% of the national population, which was even higher than now.
