I'm catholic and they don't like each other, but i have no problem with them. The biggest catholic & orthodox conflict was between croats and serbs or maybe székelys vs romanians.

For average believer it's not different in fundamental ways, except for having a Patriarch rather than a Pope.

Orthodox Church is far less political. Orthodox church would not enter in debates with politicians or science.

Serbs have negative associations about Catholics because it is associated with Croats. Catholicism, Vatican, Pope etc all that is percieved as bad and offensive for Serbia. Of course, today not that much like in time of 90s war but it still exists.

Orthodox Church is less political because it is not centralized and that is good. At least in Serbia I think church doesn't have significant influence on politics.

The Catholic Church regards the Orthodox as wayward Christians whose reconciliation with the Roman Pontiff is inevitable. Therefore, it is permitted for Orthodox Christians to take communion in a Catholic Church. The Orthodox do not extend the same favor to Catholics however.

The Eucharist is the result of unity, not the means by which unity is achieved. While many non-Orthodox see this as a sign that the Orthodox Church excludes non-Orthodox from the Eucharist, in reality the opposite is true. Because a non-Orthodox individual has chosen not to embrace all that Orthodox Christianity holds, the non-Orthodox individual makes it impossible for an Orthodox priest to offer him or her communion. It is not so much a matter of Orthodoxy excluding non-Orthodox as it is the non-Orthodox making it impossible for the Orthodox to offer the Eucharist.
What a load of nonsense. Schismatics basically rent the unity of the Church asunder over what amounts to omphaloskepsis i.e. "navel-gazing", aka mere mental masturbation.

I guess in Russia (except Kaliningrad region) few know the exact difference because they don't see any Catholicism around and just aren't much into details.
