The Orthodox like to position themselves as "pure," as "traditional," as "Medieval" in a good way, as a contrast to Catholicism in the wake of Vatican 2 and the pedo priest scandal. But they have more than their fair share of problems, too.
To start with, despite the nominal "first among equals" being the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, the real most powerful man in Orthodoxy is the Patriarch of Moscow, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, and he is basically just a stooge for Putin. In fact, the entire Russian Church has been heavily infiltrated by FSB, and essentially acts as an arm of the state.
On top of that, the Orthodox Church is currently in the midst of a schism, with Ukraine breaking away from the Russian Church and forming their own national Church, against the wishes of the Russian Patriarch. This has created a mess and has pitted the various patriarchs against each other.
And even on top of that, on the micro level, Orthodox priests and bishops are really not all that different from Catholic priests and bishops. You have some who diddle kids, you have some who launder money, you have some who are corrupt.
Anyway, Christianity has nothing to do with public churches. Orthodox or Catholic or whatever are just a bunch of people who want to belong to a club, no exceptions. Any public Christian who calls himself that isn’t one.
